Option 1 — Private Parking Near Sarajevo Airport
Private parking near the airport has become the choice of a growing number of Sarajevo travellers over the past few years — and for good reason.
How It Works
You drive to the parking lot, staff welcome you, and a free shuttle takes you to the terminal in two to five minutes. On your return — you send a message when you land, and the shuttle is waiting when you walk out of the terminal. Your car stays in a fenced, monitored space for the entire duration of your trip.
Price
ZONA Parking, one of the first and longest-running private parking services near Sarajevo Airport, offers the following rates:
- Up to 10 days: 10 KM/day
- 10 days or more: 9 KM/day
- 20 days or more: 8 KM/day
Shuttle transfer to and from the airport is included in the price — no additional charges.
Advantages of Private Parking
- Your car is ready the moment you return — no waiting for a taxi, no coordination
- The price is fixed and known in advance
- For trips longer than three days, this is by far the most affordable option
- Staff available 24/7, including early morning departures and late night arrivals
- Fenced perimeter with video surveillance, motion sensors and floodlights
Who This Option Is For
Anyone travelling with their own car for more than two days. Summer holidays, business trips, visits to family abroad — this option combines security, convenience and value in one place.
Option 2 — Official Sarajevo International Airport Parking
The official airport parking is located directly in front of Terminal B — you're literally steps from check-in.
How It Works
Entry and exit are automated, no reservation required, no coordination — you arrive, park, and pay on exit. Simple and direct.
Price (valid from 01.05.2025.)
- 5 KM for the first hour, then 1 KM for every additional 20 minutes
- 25 KM per day for stays up to 24 hours
- 15 KM per day for vehicles staying longer than 24 hours
For a same-day trip or one-night stay, this is a perfectly reasonable price. For 7 days: 105 KM. For 14 days: 210 KM.
Worth noting: the airport explicitly states in its terms and conditions that it bears no responsibility for the loss or damage of vehicles or belongings.
Advantages of Official Airport Parking
- Maximum proximity to the terminal — ideal for travellers in a hurry
- No reservation, no coordination needed
- Open 24/7
Who This Option Is For
Short, same-day trips or situations where terminal proximity is the absolute priority. For multi-day travel, the cost quickly becomes unfavourable compared to private parking.
Option 3 — Taxi to Sarajevo Airport
A taxi makes sense when you don't want to leave your car anywhere — you can't ask a family member or friend to drop you off, and public transport isn't practical.
How It Works
The taxi rank is located in front of Terminal B, with vehicles available 24/7. The journey to the city centre takes around 20 minutes in normal traffic.
For ordering a taxi in Sarajevo, the available apps are Moj Taxi and Žuti Taxi. Uber, Lyft and Bolt do not currently operate in Sarajevo.
Price (new tariff from 30 March 2026)
The new starting fare is 3.50 KM, the price per kilometre is 2.30 KM, waiting time is charged at 23 KM per hour, and luggage is charged at 5 KM per piece.
For a journey from Sarajevo city centre to the airport (approximately 8–10 km), expect to pay between 20 and 30 KM, depending on traffic and luggage. Travel outside Sarajevo Canton carries a 30% surcharge, and travel outside Bosnia and Herzegovina a 50% surcharge.
Important: most taxis in Sarajevo do not accept card payments — always carry cash in KM.
Advantages of Taxi
- Direct journey from your address to the terminal
- No concern about the car
- Available at any time
Disadvantages of Taxi
- For the return journey you need to order and pay again — double the cost for every trip
- For a seven-day trip with three people: taxi there and back = 50–60 KM, plus the uncertainty of finding a free vehicle late at night on return
- Not available via popular ride-sharing apps
Who This Option Is For
Travellers without a car, or those who have someone dropping them off. For one-way departures where the return isn't a concern. Not the optimal choice for regular travellers.
Option 4 — Centrotrans Bus Between the Airport and City Centre
Centrotrans Eurolines operates a direct line between Sarajevo International Airport and the city centre — specifically to Vijećnica (Baščaršija).
How It Works
Sarajevo International Airport is connected to the city centre by the Centrotrans Eurolines bus line, with a timetable coordinated with flight schedules.
Tickets can be purchased at the terminal counter or from the driver — cash only, so make sure you have small change in KM.
Price and Timetable
A one-way ticket costs 5 KM. The first piece of luggage up to 23 kg is included in the price; additional or heavier luggage is charged at 5 KM extra.
Approximate departures from the airport towards the city centre: 06:20, 07:30, 09:15, 11:00, 12:30, 14:20, 16:10, 17:45 and 20:30. From the city centre towards the airport: 06:55, 08:30, 10:00, 11:40, 13:10, 15:10, 17:00, 18:30 and 21:15. We recommend checking the current timetable on the Centrotrans website before your trip.
Advantages of the Bus
- The cheapest direct option to the city centre
- Luggage included in the fare
- Departs directly from the airport
Disadvantages of the Bus
- Fixed schedule — if your flight doesn't align, you wait
- Not an option for early morning flights or late night arrivals
- Doesn't go to private addresses — you'll need to continue by public transport or taxi
- Cash only
Who This Option Is For
Travellers arriving without a car who need to reach the city centre — tourists, visitors, returnees without a pickup arranged. Not relevant for travellers who have a car and want to leave it at a parking service.
Option 5 — Public Transport: Trolleybus and Tram
This is the option least talked about, yet it exists and works — with certain compromises.
Trolleybus (Line 103)
From the stop in the Dobrinja neighbourhood, approximately one kilometre from the airport, trolleybus line 103 runs to Trg Austrije in the city centre.
In practice: from the airport you need to walk around 10–15 minutes to the Dobrinja stop, then continue by trolleybus to the centre. With a suitcase — especially in heat or rain — this is demanding.
Tickets for public transport can be purchased at kiosks for 1.60 KM or from the driver for 1.80 KM. Always validate your ticket upon boarding.
Tram
The nearest tram stops to the airport are in the Stup neighbourhood, approximately 3.5 kilometres away. Trams run on the Baščaršija–Ilidža route.
The tram is not a direct option to the airport — it requires combined transport and additional walking, which is not practical with luggage.
Advantages of Public Transport
- The cheapest possible option (1.60–1.80 KM per journey)
- Good for getting a feel for the city if you're not in a rush
Disadvantages of Public Transport
- Walking to the stop with luggage
- Not an option for early morning flights — public transport doesn't run through the night
- Not practical with multiple pieces of luggage or with children
- No guarantee of making your flight on time if there are delays
Who This Option Is For
Experienced travellers with light carry-on luggage travelling alone with plenty of time to spare. For everyone else — one of the options above will serve you better.
Which Option Is Right for You?
Here's a simple decision guide:
You have a car and you're travelling for more than 2 days? → Private parking. Better price, car waiting on your return, no coordination needed.
You have a car and you're flying for one day or one night? → Official airport parking. Maximum proximity, no reservation required.
You don't have a car or have someone to drop you off? → Taxi for comfort, Centrotrans bus for savings.
You're arriving in Sarajevo without a car and need to reach the centre? → Centrotrans bus (5 KM) or trolleybus if you're an experienced traveller with minimal luggage.
Travelling for 7 days or more? → Private parking without question. For 10 days, the price difference between private and official airport parking is 60 KM or more.

Can I use Bolt or Uber to get to Sarajevo Airport? No — Uber, Lyft and Bolt do not currently operate in Sarajevo. The available apps are Moj Taxi and Žuti Taxi.
